Firstly, I want to say thanks to all the folks that stopped by this blog to give me a few words of encouragement on writing my first post, thanks big time (even though I some how deleted them). Ok, so before I plunge into this post to let you know why this blog exists, let me first say that writing isn’t one of my strong points. So for all you Ed-Ju-Muh-Kate-Ed folks take it easy on me, I write like I talk and if that bothers you- hang in there, I’ll get you up to my level in no time at all :~}.
Here’s the dictionary’s explanation for the word Niche…
- Niche
a. a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person is best fitted for (she finally found her niche).
b. a specialized market.
Now let me give you my understanding of the word Niche…
- Niche something you do well enough that you could teach others how to do, as well as earn an income from, if you choose.
I chose this particular topic idea because my plan is to write about (interview) different Niche businesses and with the help of some of you blog readers I should have plenty of content to cover.
The way I see it, the Internet has truly leveled the playing field when it comes to commerce (making money). I say that because the foot prints of success are all over the Internet. You can go from a person working a nine-to-five to a person making six figures every few months just like Dave Guindon, Alex Jeffery, or Rich Schefren.
If you stay with me over the next few months I’ll show you unlimited resources and ideas about Niches, and if you choose you can follow the foot prints these fellas left behind.
Ralph
P.S.
don’t you dare leave without leaving a comment… I truly value your thoughts.

Glad you’re finally up and running. Wow, I’ve never thought of “my thing” as being “my niche” and even further, flipping “my thing” in e-commerce. Guess I’ve been so busy punching the clock, being good at doing what I do; I never have the time to stop and seriously think about branding myself. I meet a lot of people and support even more just doing “my thing” and have been satisfied. I see people “niching” all the time but have not given it a second thought because how would I work that into my schedule? What all does it entail? Is it something I can really do? Nice post. Very interested. Can’t wait to learn more. Thanks Ralph.
I’m so glad you followed on twitter! I’m a young entrepreneur that’s new to the game, but I’m steadily working towards my freedom. Your blog is definitely inspiring for me to start my own and continue towards finding my niche- thanks again, and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
What a great idea for a blog, I’m excited to see where it goes!
If you ever need niche businesses to interview just shoot me an email, I’d be happy to send over a list of businesses I’ve worked with.
Ralph,
Way to go man! Keep up with the blogging…
The blank post can be a mean task master, but keep up the posting with great little nuggets. Writing like we speak is only missing the body language. :-}
Peace, my friend.
Ralph!!! Great job… really glad to see this up and running!! The economical climate is proving that the internet is, and will be, the most sustainable avenue for financial growth. Learning where you fit and how to grow with the skills you possess is invaluable information. I hope very much to learn from you and am offering any assistance I can to your endeavour.
Having a Niche is the way to go. Being a jack of all trades and a master of none doesn’t work. Do what you love doing and people will follow. Working in the real estate field for 25 yrs is a passion for me. I did very well because I enjoyed so much helping people and the joy it gave me to see people achieve things they thought they couldn’t. Now in this market I have to change my Niche. I will be interested to watch and see how all this goes for you Ralph. I wish you the best of luck.. Wendy WNC
…ralph. U R a WRITER. love the 1st POST. keep ‘em comin..
btw. I like henny in my java. is that wrong?! lol
Great first post! Keep on writing like you talk, it works. I look forward to reading more. Congratulations!
Nice blog. You’ve got me interested.
Ralph,
I like your definition of a niche! Too many people think that a niche is some obscure topic that no one else can know about, but it can truly be anything you are good (and passionate) about.
And don’t knock your writing style! Looking forward to reading more.
JR
Great first post, Ralph. I believe you have found your niche! I’m still patiently searching for mine. (smile)
I look forward to following your blog.
Rhonda you probably have 2 or 3 niches trust me most of us do …
Good for you Ralph!
I missed you for a few days on Twitter and then I found your “Plan a More Productive Day” video – good job on that too – that pointed me here. I’m excited to see your niche and this blog grow.
I’ve been hinting at my niche for a while and hope to soon share it with the world. If an interview will help you, drop me a line. Now I’ve got to finish my coffee
… see that’s what I’m talking about a friend who’s noticed the pattern of productiveness… can’t wait to hear about your niche and yes interview most def…
Hey Ralph
I love your blog title. Simple but says it all. Mine is complex and probably doesn’t say anything.
My wife says a niche is a small alcove in a wall.
Don’t worry about coming late, I think the party is just starting. Good luck with whatever you do.
Norm
Your post is a breathe of fresh air, I’ve been trying to find my niche ( passion) for sometime now. My POA is to get back on track . Look forward to more of your post
Loved your YouTube videos… You are a man after my own heart. Nice to see you doing your thing with a lotta’ stick-to-it-ness. I looked at the “It’s about you” and the “Wil Smith” video at the perfect time. I had a conversation with my supervisor this morning before my shift ended and I needed all of the positive reinforcement in the world that I AM NOT MY JOB!!! It’s ONLY what I do….
The Marvalisa.com website/blog is on the rise and I am constantly making LIST to increase my productivity. I am a certified list-maker and I have LIST for my LIST…
Job well done… Keep goin’
Marvalisa
Hi Ralph
Every journey starts with a first step.
Your webdesign is really cool.
Looking forward to your next post.
John
Hey Ralph,
You write better than most who “call themselves” a writer. Concise,
with clarity, and definitely to the point. Your “niche” definition is a revelation that was pulled from within you. It is wonderful when you can tap into that inner power and help others. I look forward to your future posts so I can learn more. And yes, I’m an interior designer, an encourager, a celebrator of others, and an author. My niche? Haven’t a clue. Maybe you can help me find it!!!
Still working on my blog, (lol)
Showers of Blessing,
Deana
Hi Ralph,
I like your post about niches. Selecting a niche is one of the hardest things. I look forward to reading or watching your interviews with the experts in their niche.
Would you mind making a post on how you made those hand-written headings on your blog? It looks cool and unusual.
I look forward to your next posts. The first one is behind you so it should be easy writing from now on.
Vance.
Hey Vance … thanks for stopping by … are you onboard for an interview if not I sure hope you do signup for one.
Yes I did plan on doing a post about how I came up with the idea for my blog… third or fourth down the line. There is so much to cove and write about …
Ralph
well thanks you fro those kinds words … let me know when you get your blog going the way you want and if you need help finding your niche I could point you in a good direction in no time at all. Deana thanks for stopping by and make sure you join my mailing list to stay up on the interviews about and with peeps just like yourself.
Ralph
Ralph,
Niche… Love your definition. Loaded up a Youtube video about my niche, maybe it interests you or maybe for an interview.
Over 60 people including Alex Jeffreys himself has commented on my video blog post in the last 72 hours.
Let me know…
Rob
Yes Rob great video and look forward to the webinar thingy….
For the interview hit my up for an interview tab
once your done there we can set it up.
Hey thanks Marvalisa feel free to leave comments on the youtube videos and don’t forget to put your URl link with your comment.
I’m really glad to see you take more control with everything!!
Great stuff. There are jewels in your statement about ‘writing the way you talk’. Even though I’ve taught English for many years, I’m constantly being reminded that there are many factors involved in effective communication besides merely understanding the rules of grammar etc.
As far as niches go, at the moment, I’m focusing on eBay matters, but I’m doing some serious groundwork regarding other areas.
I’m definitely bookmarking your site and coming back for more. Like you said, visit my site, and don’tcha dare leave without leaving a comment. I certainly like your approach and value your ideas (I’m pretty new in the blog business too, lol).
Nice blog. My niche is writing and music.
You did very well for your first post, you ed-ju-ma-kated man! Hook a sista up and bring me to your level! I am writer, singer, visionary, promoter and manager. Can you help me niche these in e-commerce?
Ralph, great idea for a blog, as a photographer everyone in the field always tells you to find a niche. Some of my photos are for sale on the web, of course I’m no internet guru selling my photos left or right, but maybe I haven’t perfected my niche yet. Well anyways can’t wait to see more!
I just started blogging and just realized how much information I have inside of me to share with others on how to build out a social network environment for hospitals and healthcare organizations incorporating portals and other tools to give the patient/person back control of their healthcare. It was interesting coming across your information. You started following me on Twitter and peaked my interest and so I clicked on your link. I noticed Ralph that some of your images are broken in IE 8 when looking at your site. Wasn’t sure you knew that. Sorry the internet technologist in me.
thank YOU Diane for taking the time to view my blog and for making a comment… much appreciated.
I love it when folks share their technology wisdom, yes I seen that and need to figure out why thats happening.
Hey Ralph,
Really interesting idea for a blog!! I am sure that as you investigate many different niches (and the people who are successful in each one) you find a running “theme” that is common to all the successful people in the different niches. Then, suddenly you have material for your own ebook on how to successfully market ANY niche!! How cool is that?
Best of luck and look forward to seeing what happens next!
Lee
Good Luck Buddy with ur endeavours!! Did not know about my niche or maybe if i know i really dont know…
P.S. Just could not dare to leave the blog without leaving a comment..:)
Ralph, you’re on track for big success with this. I think you’ve found a “missing link” to help people understand niches… what they are, how to find their own, and then you even step in to help get them started with their first promotion, with the interview opportunity. Very clever and on the mark. I’d enjoy doing an interview with you, too, but I’m afraid I’m not “eligible” since I can’t use Skype. I live in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and have to use satellite to get online. Skype doesn’t work with satellite. Oh well. I’d wish you good luck with all your projects, but you don’t need it! Who needs luck when you’ve got talent and a plan?
I look forward to seeing your name all over the internet in a very short time.
Hello Roberta,
Thank you for taking the time to make a comment it’s very much a appreciated.
YES that’s the plan…. “help people understand niches… what they are, how to find their own, and then help them get started with their first promotion”. I will figure out a way to do an interview with you…
Ralph
Hi Ralph!
We definitely need to have a conversation, soon! I am just getting ready to launch what I believe will become a large social network of bloggers and registered members. Of the few elements I’ve outlined for main content, YOU have an incredible grasp of how the Internet has and continues to change available opportunities for all people.
If you would like to talk, please email and let me know, I’ll happily give you a call on my dime. (I’m a cheapskate, lol, I have free 24/7 long distance) Hope we are able to be of service to each other and to others as well, will enjoy praying for your efforts here either way!

Congrats with the new blog …I feel privileged to actually having witnessed the birth of a new blog!
You know, I think writing like you speak is probably the only way of getting your personality across and maybe for being unique. Stick with it. The first post seemed to read just fine and if you can help people with finding their niche, it seems you’re on quite a winner.
All the best with it.
I’m glad I’ve come this far! Your writing is interesting! I’ll check out more about you, maybe find your utube video. Sounds like you’ve found your niche!
Mine is helping people change through energy work, channeling, life coaching. I’ll look to hear more from you! Andrea
I just want want to say I know we found each other for a reason. Our idea’s and the way we choose to give service are just to similiar. Congrats on your blog and I’ll be watching.
Keep the hustle strong,
Lawrence
Brother Lawrence… thank you for the comment… I checked out your video this morning on the 16 week challenge great job. I will be watching you as well.
The net’s a big place but there are only 6 degrees that separate us from bringing it full circle. Keep doing you sir.
RC
Hey Ralph,
I was listening to you on Sylvia Hubbard’s BlogTalk Radio show this evening and you were discussing the upcoming Tech Club – CPR workshop. Anyway, as requested, I’ve read your blog and I’m intrigued. You mentioned Dave Guindon, Alex Jeffery, and Rich Schefren – none of whom I know, so for that reason alone, I’m appreciating this blog – b/c you’ve given me some homework. I appreciate you sharing your talent and voice with the world.
thank you for your kinds words… you were also pretty funny in the chat room… so whats your niche?
Ask yourself these seven questions to determine what type of learner you are: If you would choose to read about it you are more of a visual learner, if you would prefer to hear about it you are a more auditory learner and if you would like to try it yourself you are more of a tactile learner. ,
Great blog start Ralph.
You have a great domain name in LearnANiche, Keep it up
And as to writing – write with the style that is you.
Hi Ralph,
Thansk for the follow on Twitter…thought I woudl check out your site. Great post, but I think maybe the second post is the hardest!! Keep it up, my friend!
Hi Ralph,
Your personality shines through your writing. Make no apologies.
I love definitions . . . it helps get everyone on the same page (so to speak).
You’re creating a strong foundation for people to grow their niche business from. I’m expecting you to be a household name soon, right up their with Dave Guindon, Alex Jeffreys, and Rich Schefren.
All the best,
Theresa
PS I haven’t been on Twitter in a while and just saw your comment. Maybe you can write a post on how you built your 41K+ following on Twitter.
Hi Ralph,
I love your writing style, it keeps is real, and thru that comes your personality and I think that is one of the hardest things to transfer to paper (or screen!).
thanks for the follow on twitter,
I look forward to watching your success unfold,
Guy.
Guy thanks for the comment sir … great blog you have as well.
Hi Ralph.. its a while since you wrote your first post – but as I just saw it, wouldn’t dream of daring to leave…
Without commenting.
Does that count?
Make it a great day!
Anthony
Hi Ralph.
Finally connected to your blog. Love it ! Heard you on PamPerry’s blog training replay. Listened to it twice, took notes but I still have questions. Would like your training re: blogging. Not sure how to work with what we did on the call. My niche is empowering women and I’m ready to stop talking about it and really put it out there. You can help. Hope to talk to you soon. (If your son can it do, what am I waiting for?)
